Girls rugby proving to be a huge success

Hull KR's girls rugby team is going from strength to strength and new players are welcome to come down and see what all the fuss is about!

Launched in 2016, the club's Female Hubs were introduced in partnership with Active Humber and the University of Hull as a chance to involve more young girls in the sport of rugby league with the opportunity to train and play regularly as part of a structured competition with a pathway of progression.

Proving to be roaring success, the sessions run by the Hull KR Community Trust now regularly attract around 30 girls every Monday and Thursday night, with teams at U12's, U14's and U16's age groups.

The overall aim is to develop a home-grown, club-developed Rovers team to compete in the new Women's Super League by 2020, but we still need more players to get involved.

All girls between the ages of 11 and 16 are welcome to attend regardless of ability or previous experience - it's all about having fun, staying active and making friends through playing sport.

Anybody interested is welcome to come down to a training session and watch what goes on without getting involved straight away if they wish. For more information, please email the Community Trust at community@hullkr.co.uk

Head to Hull KR TV to watch a video of a typical training session for the girls squad.
