Will Tate Joins First Team Training Sessions
Hull Kingston Rovers are delighted to confirm that exciting young utility back, Will Tate has been training with the first team to gain valuable experience with the club and speed up his development process.
Tate learnt his craft at Skirlaugh Bulls, before joining the then, City of Hull Academy and becoming one of the front runners expected to sign a professional contract.
Last year, Hull Kingston Rovers’ Head of Youth, John Bastian singled out Tate as one of the ones to watch as he expected the outside back to soon join the first team ranks.
Tony Smith has plenty of faith in the 18 year old, as has ‘no hesitation’ of putting him in to a first grade game: “As I said recently, I’d have no hesitation in putting Will in. I’ve got no problem with that.
“Over the coming weeks if we need a full-back, a centre or a winger and we haven’t got replacements there, I’d have no hesitation in throwing Will in there. I know he’ll do a good job.
“He played some reserve grade games at the start of the year and looked great playing against men.
“I’ve got high hopes for him and he’s a kid with a great attitude. He loves training. He’s got a good physique for his age and does everything right.
“I’m looking forward to that. That’s an exciting one.”Back To Latest News +
