Vete Given Warm Welcome To East Hull
Hull Kingston Rovers’ new recruit, Albert Vete is overjoyed to finally link up with his new teammates, as the former Melbourne prop gets stuck in to his first week of training.
Signing for the Robins back in November, the 6’2ft powerhouse has been no stranger to voicing his excitement to get settled into life at Hull College Craven Park.
“The boys have been welcoming and offering to help out if I need anything because I’ve come over with a young family. I’ve really enjoyed the first couple days of training and meeting all the boys.
“The kids were pretty excited to see the snow, it’s something that we don’t see much of back where we’re from. It’s pretty cold, different to the Auckland weather we left behind, but we’re really excited to finally be over here.”
Patiently waiting for his family’s visa’s to be approved ahead of their international move, Vete was side lined whilst his future teammates got stuck into pre-season training.
“It was pretty hard watching the boys get to training, I felt almost out of place all that distance away. I just wasn’t able to gel with them as a team, I know that I don’t have long to try and catch up on that stuff. I’ll be trying to make the most of each training session and build towards round one.
“I’m coming here with a mindset that nothing is going to be given to me. I come to this club all in, I just want to be a part of it and earn the boys respect and the coaching staff. I’m excited to see what I can bring with my experience over my career and add to the club.
“I’m looking forward to the competition, I’ve been watching parts of training over the last couple of days and it’s pretty intense. The boys have been banging me up a little bit giving me that warm welcome.”
