Tony Smith Taking No Chances On Winless Rhinos
Head coach Tony Smith is eagerly anticipating the chance to play Leeds Rhinos on Friday night, filled with confidence after a positive start to 2020.
Smith and his men will be looking to back up a strong opening two rounds and aim to improve their position in the Betfred Super League.
Despite suffering a 30-4 defeat to Rovers’ neighbours, Hull FC, Smith is wary of the threat that Richard Agar’s side will possess, calling them an ‘experienced and threatening’ team.
“They’re going to be dangerous, they’ve got some dangerous players with speed and some of their outside backs are terrific. They have some experienced half-backs that I know are going to produce some fantastic games for them this year,” said Smith.
“Both teams can play with the ball and like to throw it around to chance their arm, so hopefully it will produce a great game of rugby league and we’re good enough to come out on the right side.
“I’m particularly happy with the way the boys have been playing. They’ve been trying really hard for the club and each another – that’s all I can ask from the players.
Smith is also be pleased to have Matt Parcell back in contention, after naming the number nine in the 21-man squad.
“I’m looking forward for Matty [Parcell] returning, he’s a quality player and a player that can influence the outcome of games, I’m sure he’s got that on his mind this week.”
Pre-sale tickets for the game are SOLD OUT – however they will be available from Leeds Rhinos on the night.
