Tim Sheens – Team is ready to rise to Cup occasion
Hull Kingston Rovers head coach Tim Sheens believes it won’t take much to prepare his side mentally for tomorrow’s Coral Challenge Cup tie at Salford Red Devils.
The Robins are three victories away from reaching the showpiece finale at Wembley Stadium but must first navigate through a ‘tough’ round six affair at the AJ Bell Stadium (2pm kick-off).
Having lost narrowly to the Devils in the Betfred Super League fixture at KCOM Craven Park earlier this season, Sheens knows where Salford’s threats lie and what his side must do to limit Saturday’s hosts.
“You can sense the upturn in preparation in the boys and it’ll build further over the next 48 hours,” Sheens told Hull KR TV.
“You know that if you lose, you’re out but win and you’re a good step closer to Wembley. It won’t take much to get them ready in respect of between the ears, it’s just about settling the side and getting through training to have a stronger team possible.

“We’ve had a couple of those close games like the one against Salford in the league. That day, it came down to Joel Tomkins’ no-try under the posts, with no TV to prove one way or another.
“That changed the game and young Joey Lussick’s try late on in the game is one we have to be aware of again. It’s not easy to stop him and they have plenty of threats. They’ve had most of their success this year at home so it’s going to be a tough one admittedly.”Back To Latest News +
