Peter Grayburn – The Academy’s Future is Bright
Interim Scholarship (U16s) Head Coach, Peter Grayburn has given an in-depth interview on the challenges facing scholarship rugby league and the resilience of the club’s juniors during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Taking the reins until the end of the season (as interim head coach) was the right thing to do for our current cohort of scholars. I have witnessed first-hand the exceptional work ethic and commitment these individuals have shown.
“I’m looking forward to working closely with Joe Chambers and Tony Grantham to implement my own personal strategies to maximise this team’s potential. Despite this year being particularly challenging due to the coronavirus pandemic, we have had to adapt to follow guidelines.
“However, the boys have remained resilient throughout and have been extremely dedicated to their own personal and professional development. I would also like to make a special mention to the club’s Sports Therapist, Alan Silvester who has gone above and beyond to ensure all players and staff have been in the safest environment possible during these testing times.
“As a team, we are looking forward to the upcoming challenge against Wakefield on Wednesday evening. We haven’t changed too much but we are refining the core skills and fundamentals of the game.
“As coaches, we want to try and challenge everyone’s core skill set. It’s an area we believe we need to work on following our post-match review against Leeds Rhinos. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for this group of talented young athletes, as I expect it will be incredibly bright.”
Hull KR U16s take on Wakefield Trinity U16s at the Mobile Rocket Stadium on Wednesday 21st July, kick-off 7:00pm.
