Sporting Heritage Week celebrations underway
Hull Kingston Rovers and the Hull KR Community Trust will be holding a week-long series of events this week to celebrate the club’s rich history and heritage.
Sporting Heritage Week will run from today through to this Sunday when the Robins face Widnes Vikings at KCOM Craven Park, with a variety of events lined up for supporters to get involved.

HERITAGE LAUNCH EVENT
7pm, Legends Lounge
Join us for the launch of Sporting Heritage week. The night will also give you an opportunity to learn more about and get involved in the work we have ongoing as part of the Heritage Project at the Hull KR Community Trust.
HULL KR PARTNERSHIP EVENT
10am to 3pm, Legends Lounge
During the day we will be inviting local community organisations to join us and celebrate East Hull and surrounding areas Sporting Heritage. The day will include visits from care homes, schools as well as other community partners all together to share their memories and document the heritage of Hull KR. We will also have guest appearances from Rufus and Rover as well as dance and movement classes.
TEAM OF LEGENDS NIGHT
7pm, Legends Lounge
The evening event will celebrate the lives and careers of Hull KR legends, highlighting their contribution to the club and famous memories from down the years. With pictures, memorabilia and video clips the night will be an opportunity to share stories and reminisce of the club’s success.
HERITAGE OF HULL KR MEMORY CAFÉ
1pm to 3pm, Budget Tyres Robins Nest
A staple of the Heritage Project, our memory cafés are a chance for guests to reminisce about the history of the club. Using club memorabilia, photos, music and videos our memory cafés are a great social activity for everyone to get involved in. The Heritage Team will also be on hand to provide further discussions and memories of their time supporting the club.
HERITAGE TIMELINE EVENT
7pm, Legends Lounge
Another edition of our Heritage Evenings, the timeline event will give guests a chance to sneak a peek at our future plans for a Stadium Timeline around Craven Park. The timeline will portray the heritage of the local east hull area whilst celebrating the history of the club.
TOUR AND TRAIL OF HULL KR
Time TBC, Roger Millward Stand Reception
Starting with a Stadium Tour of KCOM Craven Park, this event will give guests a complete guide through the history of Hull KR and its importance to the local area. After finishing the tour, guests will be led around the area stopping at significant places in Hull KR’s history. The guided tour will also explain the key points in the clubs heritage and decisions that shaped the club we know today.
COMMUNITY LEARNING LAUNCH
10am to 12 noon, Compendium Living East Stand Youth Centre
This event is the start of a 12 week course for people to learn new skills in creative writing on our community learning workshop. Sessions led by local author Brian Lavery will enable people to have the ability to write poems to press releases. Underpinned by Hull KR Heritage, the course will enable people to write stories of the clubs past in a variety of different formats from press releases to poems.
HERITAGE CLUB CALL
1pm to 4pm, Roger Millward Stand Trust Office
To conclude activity for the week we’re holding a Club call for memorabilia to take forward and utilise within our Heritage Project for years to come. Members of the Heritage Team will be available for anyone looking to donate any wanted or unwanted memorabilia they have. Official Acquisition policies will be also given, ensuring we acknowledge your donation to help support the ongoing success of the Heritage Project.
MATCHDAY FAN HUB
Pre-match, KCOM Craven Park
To celebrate and highlight the work we have done within Sporting Heritage week, our matchday fan hub will show photos and stories from the guests involved and the positive outcomes of the weeks work.
Alongside this we will also provide the usual collection of memorabilia for fans to enjoy before the match, with members of the Heritage Team on hand to provide the stories behind the items on show.Back To Latest News +
