SCHOLARSHIP TASTE DEFEAT IN SEASON OPENER
The City of Hull Academy opened their Scholarship campaign for the 2019 Season with a defeat, in a physical encounter against a strong Warrington Wolves outfit.
Second row forward Bailey Dawson opened the scoring for the City of Hull Academy with a 90 metre effort on the third tackle of the game. It was a fantastic individual effort which saw him beat a number of opponents including the Warrington full back with a smart dummy. Half back Jacob Hookem tagged on the extras. Within seven minutes, the hosts had crossed for their second try of the game when centre Leon Stewart pounced onto a ball in the left hand corner.
The visitors from the North West soon picked up their game and were rewarded with tries on 23 minutes, 29 minutes and 34 minutes along with a solitary conversion to take the lead at the half time interval, 10 – 14.
The second half started well for the City of Hull Academy with centre Kieran Masike and full back Joel Speed both crossing to which the Wolves had a converted try in between meaning the scores were 18 – 20 with just under a quarter of an hour to go.
The Wolves handled the testing weather conditions better than their opponents towards the back end of the game to run in a further three tries, two conversions and a penalty goal to up the score to 18 – 38.
Next up, the City of Hull Academy Scholarship side face Wigan Warriors away on Wednesday 13 March 2019, Kick Off 7.00pm.

The attitude and effort was first class throughout the game as it has been throughout the full pre season period.
