Rusling joins Reserves

Hull KR is delighted to confirm Adam Rusling has joined the club on a reserve contract for 2022.

The 18-year-old joins his hometown club following a stint in West Yorkshire, coming through the academy at Castleford Tigers. Rusling made his Super League debut for the Tigers earlier this year against Salford Red Devils in Round 14 – providing a well-worked assist in the game.

While his appearance against Salford would be his sole Super League outing in 2021, Rusling went on to have a starring role in Castleford Tigers U19s hard-fought 26-14 victory over the junior Robins’ as part of the club’s double header in August.

An elusive halfback with a pinpoint kicking game, Rusling adds quality playmaker experience to the Robins’ reserves for 2022. Equally, the former West Hull junior will be in good company at Hull College Craven Park as he develops his skills amongst the club’s halfback trio of Jordan Abdull, Mikey Lewis and Rowan Milnes.

A long-term admirer of the young half’s talent, Head of Player Development Jason Netherton was delighted to see Rusling signed up to a reserve contract for 2022: “Once we found out Adam was available from Castleford, there were conversations from the off on him signing him up.

“I got him in as soon as I could. I spoke to Paul (Lakin) and we’ve put Adam on a reserve contract the same as the other six we’ve signed up already. He’s (Adam) keen to show what he can do. He’s going to spend as much time as he possibly can training with the first team and hope to impress the staff and earn himself a full-time contract.”
