City of Hull Academy
The City of Hull Academy has gone from strength to strength both on and off the pitch since plans were announced to combine the Hull Kingston Rovers and Hull FC academies from the 2016 season.
The new relationship saw both clubs set first team history and rivalry aside to bring their two existing youth development systems under one roof at Bishop Burton College, with the long-term aim of increasing both the quantity and quality of Hull-based players playing the game at the highest level.
A positive first season at under-19s and under-16s level saw two youthful squads predominantly made up of first-year players at each age group finish in a respectable mid table before both sides kicked on 12 months later. The 19s were particularly impressive in 2017 in reaching the semi-finals, but lost out narrowly to Castleford Tigers to deny them a first Grand Final appearance.
The Academy continues to go from strength to strength in 2019.
