Lakin says energy, leadership and hard work can put Robins on the front foot

New CEO Paul Lakin says Hull KR must be ‘on the front foot’ and more proactive in key areas as he looks to deliver improved performance both on and off the field.

Highlighting commercial activities, relationships with businesses and sponsors and better communication as priorities, he says he is confident he can bring effective new leadership to The Robins.

Lakin believes he can use his experience of working in the Premier League and The Championship at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Stoke City over the past 12 years to good effect and has pledged to bring new energy to the club.

“I am back because I genuinely believe there is potential in the club,” said The Robins’ new chief executive.

“I know the supporters, I know the club, I know the city and I feel that I can make a difference, and we as a team can make a difference on and off the pitch.

“I learned a lot in football, in both divisions, and I think I can take some of that and bring it here, already knowing what I know about the club. I will be bringing my own style of leadership. I’d like to think I am vastly experienced across two sports, so it is not unknown territory for me.

“I want to bring my own energy to the club, better communication internally, a tighter structure and leadership. I will lead from the front. I think they are particularly important aspects when going into next season, especially when we have had such a difficult year.”

Club needs to become more ‘revenue driven’

Lakin expects to use his contacts over his years in rugby and football to help attract new sponsorship, and feels more must be done to ensure the club appeals to businesses.

The comments come as Paul explains why the front of 2021 replica shirts will be blank whilst the search for new partners continues.

“The front of shirt sponsorship is highly marketable and a key part of our commercial inventory. With a later than usual kick-off anticipated to give fans the chance to see all our games, we have several months before the season starts. Therefore, we would like to take our time, explore all available options and ensure we maximise this key opportunity.

Patches will be available for a token donation to charity for supporters before the season starts if they wish.”
