Keinhorst signs one-year extension
Hull KR are delighted to confirm Jimmy Keinhorst has signed a one-year extension with the club for 2022. The 31 year-old has been an unsung hero for the Robins when called upon by Tony Smith this season.
Traditionally a centre, Keinhorst has featured on the wing and at second-row from the bench this season – scoring in August’s Hull Derby and last Sunday’s win over Leigh Centurions at Magic Weekend.
For 2022, the 2015 Grand Final winner will provide high-quality depth and experience for the club with the return of Reserves alongside the Super League season.
Speaking on his extension, Keinhorst said: “I’m really grateful for the opportunity the club has given me to stay another year, I think the club and the team are going in a positive direction – I’m excited to be part of that for another year.
“The progress we’ve made this year has been evident to see and we’ve still got plenty of business to do this year.
With the reserves coming back next year, there’s plenty of opportunities for those younger lads to stake their claim for the reserves and the first team. If I can be a part of helping them on their journey as they grow up and progress, that’d be great. I think I’d get a lot from that myself.
Tony Smith was happy to keep Jimmy Keinhorst at the club for 2022: “Jimmy is an experienced, versatile player. He’s a really good club man and we need guys like that in our squad.
“He’s happy to help others, even if he’s not selected in the team. Jimmy wants to be in the team each week and he’ll get opportunities for that in the future. The extension is a reward for his great attitude and what he can contribute on the pitch.”
