“It Was Everything And More Than I Expected It To Be”: Kenny-Dowall
After his first Hull derby match, Shaun Kenny-Dowall was still in high spirits despite suffering Rovers’ first defeat of 2020 at the KCOM Stadium.
SKD partnered Greg Minikin on the right edge and Kenny-Dowall played a key part in what could already be the try of the season, making two quality offloads in the buildup to Ben Crooks’ try.
Rovers took the lead on numerous occasions with tries from Harvey Livett, Adam Quinlan and Ben Crooks, but were unable to hold out despite a strong effort from the team and a loud backing from the Rovers faithful.
“It was everything and more than I expected it to be, it ws an awesome atmosphere out there. I think that the game lived up to the hype as well, it was a great game out there in the middle, ” said Kenny-Dowall.
“I’m really proud of the boys effort, it was really good to go toe-to-toe with them. I thought that we did enough to win the game, but we came up with some crucial errors towards the end of the game. But I saying that the effort was there from the lads and there was plenty to build on, out foundations are really solid.
“It’s great to be a part of and we’re playing to our strengths. The boys are relishing it because it suits our style of play and personnel who runs the big forwards around. It was a great gameplan and Tony’s doing a great job with the boys so far.
“I’m really enjoying the Rovers fans out there and it’s great to see them turn out in force.”
