Hull KR injury update as Tony Smith talks derby clash against FC
Hull Kingston Rovers are likely to have half-back Danny McGuire and prop Mitch Garbutt available for Thursday’s derby against Hull FC at KCOM Craven Park.
McGuire, who has missed the last three matches following a training ground injury, and Garbutt (calf), will be welcome additions for #TheDecider should the duo make the cut later in the week.
Smith, whose side lost to London Broncos last time out, told Hull KR TV: “Both Danny and Mitch are strong possibilities to return for the derby, and that will be a shot in the arm for us also.”
Expanding on his views of the cross-city clash, Smith added: “I’ve been to the Hull derby matches before but to experience as the coach is a different thing.
“I know the passion that everybody in Hull has – it’s bragging rights and so it should be. It’s the biggest derby in the competition without a doubt.
“It’s a good week for us to knuckle down and show what we are capable of. I was encouraged by some things whilst not doing enough of it.
“I’m a positive person and I’m encouraging these people to stick together, that’s the power of it. When the club is not in a position that it wants to be it’s how you stick together as a whole club and I’m sure we’ll get some special support next Thursday, that unity, and that’s an important thing.”
