Learn with the Robins

Learn with the Robins provides support in a relaxed environment to help you into work or training. Our dedicated staff can work with you on an individual basis and support you with searching for a job, composing a CV, cover letter, developing your interview techniques and confidence building.

We hold workshops to develop your existing communication skills, team building and confidence building. Working in partnership with other organisations and employers we can help you to access volunteering work, training and employment opportunities.

Funded by Humber Learning Consortium and The Military Covenant, the service is free of charge and available to anyone over the age of 16 who is unemployed or ex –forces veteran.

We also hold drop in sessions every Wednesday 1pm – 4pm in the Robins Nest so you can just pop in for support.

This-Ability. A Passport To Success

Learn with the Robins are delighted to be a part of the This-Ability programme in Hull. In partnership with Humber Learning Consortium, we are supporting young people aged 18-29 who have a disability, learning difficulty or long-term health problem to find meaningful and sustainable employment.

Over a period of 12-16 weeks our young people will learn and be able to demonstrate all the skills needed in the world of work. These skills include self-management, business and customer awareness, teamwork, IT skills, problem solving and communication. We mentor each young person and full support is available throughout and beyond the programme.

Ben and Katie pictured below are the first to complete their employability passports on this programme and are now ‘good to go’. Commitment and hard work have paid off for both, with Ben going straight into employment and Katie now actively seeking opportunities in the customer service industry. The now have all the skills and a positive attitude to succeed in the work environment.

Both Ben and Katie have been amazing to work with over the course of this programme. They have built in confidence, resilience, motivation and have a great work ethic. The varied work experiences and opportunities that were available to through the support of our Community Trust and with the club gave them a new and wider range of skills and knowledge. They both say this was the reason why they enjoyed their time with us at Hull KR.

This is just the beginning for Ben and Katie and our Learn With the Robins team will always be there for them. Welcome to the Hull KR family!

If you are interested to know more about This-Ability or any of our other support available to the unemployed then please contact Nick or Ian on 01482 780908 or email community@hullkr.co.uk.

Proud to be delivering CLLD

CLLD puts people living in four Hull communities; West Hull & Central, East Hull, North Hull & Orchard Park and Bransholme, at the heart of identifying the needs and challenges it is faced with and considering what projects and activities can help to deal with them.

CLLD in Hull is coordinated by a Local Action Group (LAG) to provide grants on a matched funded basis to businesses, voluntary organisations and community sector groups to provide help and support in the following:-

  • targeted training in key work related skills
  • making it easier to find and access work
  • growing integrated community hubs
  • supporting local and community businesses
  • joining up support to increase household incomes

CLLD will support people that are of working age (16 years or older), unemployed or inactive in the labour market living in West Hull and Central, East Hull, North Hull and Orchard Park and Bransholme areas, to overcome their barriers to work as well as support for local and community businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs from those same areas too.
