Back Onside

HULL KR AND RL CARES TEAM UP FOR BACK ONSIDE…

Hull Kingston Rovers Community Trust and Hull FC are pleased to be teaming up for health with Rugby League Cares and Sport England, through National Lottery Funding, to bring you a new exciting project called Back Onside. Back Onside provides you with the opportunity to train with past and current players to build your strength, stamina and fitness with other likeminded men. The sessions are delivered in series of 10 weeks.

Jason Netherton will be leading the sessions taking place at KCOM Craven Park. Jason Netherton was a forward for Hull Kingston Rovers. Jason made his debut on 25.7.2004. Over the ten years at the club, Jason appeared in 194 games, and scored 13 4-point tries.

There are two sessions per week taking place at KCOM Craven Park; Monday at 6.30pm and Wednesday at 6.30pm starting in the New Year. Both of these sessions will take place in the North Stand Concourse.

Jack Downs, a former Hull FC player, will be leading sessions which are taking place at Bonus Youth Performance Centre every Tuesday evening from the 8thJanuary at 6pm.

Chris Rostron, the Head of Rugby League Cares, said: “Back Onside is a brilliant way for men to rediscover the benefits of exercise in a safe and familiar environment, and with expert help from experienced Rugby League professionals. We all lead busy lives with work and family commitments and it’s often the case that men struggle to find the time or the inclination to exercise regularly. Once you stop doing something you enjoy, it can be hard to find the motivation to start again, which leads to many men missing out on the health benefits that come from being active. Back Onside aims to tackle that trend and provide men with the opportunity to work alongside current and retired Rugby League players in fixtures that combine exercise and activities with fun and banter.”

Helen Schofield, Trust Manager at Hull Kingston Rovers Community Trust, stated “We’re really proud to be able to deliver this service with our partner organisations. This will run alongside our Food for Thought project and all the men will be able to continue to build on their fitness after the 10 weeks through that project. I’m sure all the guys that take part will have a great time and we can’t wait to support them in achieving their goals.  Getting back into exercise can be quite daunting but with Jason heading up the sessions here at the stadium anyone who takes part will soon feel part of our great community. ”

James Price, Head of Foundation at Hull FC, reported “We are extremely excited to work in partnership with Sport England, Rugby League Cares and Hull Kingston Rovers Community Trust to deliver the Back Onside Project. Our foundation is well-placed to deliver key messages to our local community about physical activity and health, providing support networks to men of all ages and backgrounds. I’m delighted that Jack Downs will also be our Back Onside ambassador, the activities promise to be fun and interesting, and will make a big difference. I hope that lots of our supporters get involved in this great project.”
