Hull KR coaches workshop held as Academy’s start nears
Written by John Bastian, Hull KR Head of Youth
The hard work continues for our Academy set-up ahead of our arrival of youth at pre-season training next month.
We recently held a coaches workshop involving coaches, scouts and community representatives. The whole point of it was to get all the coaches together to get to know each other.
Attendees included Jason Netherton, Kevin Deighton, Peter Grayburn, Robin Sharp, Joel Tomkins, Ben Cockayne, Weller Hauraki, Harry Cooke, Marc Smith, Sean Dawson and Tony Grantham – a real variety of experience, current and ex-professionals and those who are completely new to the club.
What we want to deliver and achieve in our academy is clear, and the end outcome is important and that is young players coming through to our first-grade team.
The coaches want to be part of this new venture and there’s a wonderful mix here. The guys from the community game are there too – they’re all really keen to progress and develop. I know the community game offers so much to these youngsters and we want to give those players the opportunity here. It is terrific having first-team players Joel and Weller as part of this too.
I want the coaches to be driven, and have that care and value for junior players to progress which allows them to achieve their goals and dreams. I want them to express their infectious personalities to our players which will help create a strong environment and culture here. It’s a very exciting time for all involved – we’re in a healthy place and we’ll get stronger.Back To Latest News +
