Ben Crooks: We must fix up attacking issues sharply for Hull FC
Hull Kingston Rovers centre Ben Crooks says his side must do more with their possession if they’re to climb from the foot of the Betfred Super League table.
Thursday’s 26-24 defeat at London Broncos sent the Robins to the bottom of the ladder, as the hosts capitalised on their possession with clinical finishing whereas Rovers failed to test the Broncos enough.
With a derby against Hull FC on the horizon, Crooks is seeking sharp improvement in KR’s attack ahead of the KCOM Craven Park decider.
“We know it was one that we needed to win. All credit to London, that isn’t going to be the last win they get,” Crooks told Hull KR TV.
“We didn’t play as well as we did against Warrington. We completed 69 per cent in the first half, they were almost 100.
“It wasn’t even from trying to play around them and messing up, it was simple play and messing up. Tony said at half-time that we needed to throw something at them and test them. We scored two quick tries, feeling good, but then we went away from it again, so credit to London.
“It’s hard to diagnose straight after the game. We’ve got a big one coming up in the derby and we have to fix that up sharply. We have to turn it around.”
