Hull KR reveal Academy Talent Identification staff for 2020 campaign
Hull Kingston Rovers have revealed their Talent Identification Staff for the 2020 campaign, with six new members of staff coming on board in the Academy set-up.
Head of Youth John Bastian has assembled an array of scouts that will look to recruit new talent to the club across the next couple of years.
Familiar faces include Dave Holdstock (son of ex-KR star Roy Holdstock), and Peter Grayburn, former head of youth at the club.
“It’s great to welcome on board all of the Talent Identification staff. It’s something that was paramount to us getting set up,” Bastian told hullkr.co.uk.
“With the staff we have got, we’ll certainly have all of Hull and East Yorkshire covered. This area is a priority for us to identify players with potential to go to a really high level and the long-term structure here at Hull KR.
“I’m delighted to welcome Dave Holdstock to the club, and Robin Sharp is already in place here as Talent Identification and Scholarship Manager.
“Simon Barratt joins and he coaches at Cottingham Tigers, whilst Malcolm Willcox has been scouting probably longer than the whole group. He’s a massive Hull KR man and we’re delighted to have him on board.
“Jeff Cooper has some great experience with Bradford Bulls and Featherstone Rovers and Tony Grantham coaches up at Holderness Vikings and he’ll be feeding us some good information about players.
“Jason Netherton, head coach of the under-18s, will also go out from time to time and watch games. He’s going to be busy coaching the next generation of players.
“Peter Grayburn is a former head of youth here – he works at Archbishop Sentamu and heads up their youth programme. He’s going to be the new Academy Education Manager, supporting all of our young players’ needs with regards to school-work and support from us as a club.
“I’m thrilled that we have this in place and it’s a strong step in the right direction.”
