2019 Hull KR fixtures & reaction

Hull Kingston Rovers can reveal the club’s fixtures for the 2019 season which has produced one of the biggest openers ever with a home clash vs. Hull FC.

The season will start with a huge home game at KCOM Craven Park against our cross-city rivals on Friday 1st February (kick off 7:45pm). The club can therefore confirm that the usual friendly game against the old enemy will be dropped and the Clive Sullivan Trophy will be competed for over the three game 2019 series. With a simple first past the post system been used for whoever secures two victories first.

This will be the first time a derby has opened the season since the Magic Weekend of 2011 in Cardiff. This opening fixture is expected to be the hottest ticket in town, details of how to secure one will be confirmed over the coming weeks on hullkr.co.uk.

Tim Sheens’ side first game on the road comes with a tough trip to Warrington Wolves in round two, the Robins then have two home games on the bounce against London Broncos and Salford Red Devils to round off the first month of the season.

Throughout the season the club has eight games scheduled for the club’s preferred home game ‘slot’ of Sunday afternoons. On top of the Sunday afternoons we also have an Easter Monday game with a 3pm kick off and two Saturday 3pm kick offs meaning that in total we have eleven weekend games, the best result the club has had in terms of preferred fixture times in a number of seasons after being part of a Super League fixture ‘steering group’ with Super League CEO Robert Elstone.

Rovers Head Coach Tim Sheens spoke to KR TV, where there is a special ‘Fixture Reaction Show’ available to view now and said “We will spend the off season getting ready for a good start, we have only planned two friendlies and I don’t want too many games heading into twenty-nine tough and powerful rounds.

“Our main aim at the minute is to get through the two friendlies and get into the first game with everyone still fit and healthy and field a very strong side for the first month of the season.”

Membership sales ahead of the new season are still going strong with the club passing the 4,000 sales mark last week, well over half way to the 6,500 target which was announced last month when memberships went on sale, with supporters challenged to sign up as many of their friends and family as they can, in what was named the ‘Red Army Challenge’.

The 2019 fixtures are expected to give sales another boost and supporters are reminded that the deadline to sign up to Rovers Forever without paying the admin fee is Saturday 24th November with junior memberships starting at £5.99 a month and adults memberships from £19.99. Seated members are also reminded that the deadline to renew their existing seat is fast approaching!

The quickest and easiest way to become a member is by heading to hullkr.co.uk/roversforever or visiting the KCOM Craven Park Fan Experience Zone or the City Centre Retail store.
