Rovers saddened by the passing of Colin McNicol
Hull Kingston Rovers are very saddened to hear of the passing of former chairman Colin McNicol and wish to extend their deepest sympathies to his wife Lesley, their family and friends.
Colin’s formal association with the club started during the dark days of administration in the late 1990s. Colin was co-opted on the board and worked tirelessly to ensure the Robins remained in existence at a time of great uncertainty and instability.
Colin succeeded Don Robinson as chairman in 2002 before standing down in 2004 to concentrate on his passion of enjoying the Robins from the terraces.
Chairman Neil Hudgell said: “It’s heart-breaking news to hear of Colin’s passing. He was such a bubbly, infectious character with a real zest for life. Nothing fazed him or got him down.
“He was hugely respected by everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed. I will remember our time on the board together with great affection and sharing many a pint with him and Lesley at games, most recently last year’s Summer Bash in Blackpool.
“No one has played a bigger part than Colin in ensuring that Hull KR remains a leading light in the game. Without the dedication and hard work of both him and Lesley during that time we wouldn’t be here today to celebrate our club’s great history.
“Rest in peace our dear friend, you will be greatly missed.”Back To Latest News +
