Sheens: The fans have a huge role to play

Head coach Tim Sheens says the Hull Kingston Rovers supporters will have a huge part to play in the club’s push for promotion in the Super 8’s Qualifiers – starting against Halifax on Sunday.

The Robins begin the seven-match shoot out against Halifax at KCOM Craven Park this weekend with the aim of pushing for a place back in Super League next season, and Sheens is calling on the Red Army to stand united behind the squad during an important period for the club.

Speaking to, he said: “The fans have a huge role to play, I want them here making a lot of noise!

“We’ll give them a game to shout about because they’ve been a bit disappointed with our last couple of efforts and rightly so, but in real terms we led the Championship competition this year with a lot of players coming in and out of the side with injury.

“However, we’re getting towards something close to our best side for when it matters. This is the most important part of the season, we’re finally at the business end of the year and it’s time for us all of us to step up and show what we’re made of in regards to our ability and doing what’s expected of us.

“We’ve got a strong side that are committed to doing well for the jersey, for the crowd and for the club, so if everybody plays their part, the fans included, let’s hope that we get the results we want. With your support, I’m sure the boys can deliver.”
