Senior players recalled to squad for cup tie

Head coach Tim Sheens has recalled eight senior players to his 19-man squad to face Leigh Centurions in the fifth round of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup on Saturday.

The Rovers boss fielded a youthful line-up in the Easter Monday defeat to Toulouse, the club’s first loss of the season, but Sheens has once again turned to experience for this weekend’s clash with the Super League side.

Returning to the squad this week are Maurice Blair, Jamie Ellis, James Greenwood, Ben Kavanagh, Shaun Lunt, Adam Quinlan, Liam Salter and Nick Scruton.

Centre Thomas Minns is still not available for selection following a concussion, whilst Ben Cockayne, Chris Clarkson, George Milton, Will Jubb, Kieran Moran, Will Oakes, Liam Harris and Jake Butler-Fleming drop out of the squad this week.

Tickets for Saturday’s match at Leigh Sports Village (3pm kick-off) remain on sale at the Rovers Retail store or online at with supporters reminded they must purchase before 4pm tomorrow to receive advance discounts. 2017 members can purchase a ticket at a cheaper rate before the deadline whilst under-18s members can claim a free ticket before the deadline.
