Justin joins the Robins
The Robins have continued their recruitment for 2014 by capturing Australian prop Justin Poore from Wakefield Wildcats on a two-year deal.
The 28-year-old, a former Australian Schoolboy International, made his name in the NRL during a six-year spell with the St George-Illawarra Dragons for whom he made over 100 appearances. His form for the Dragons saw him called up for State of Origin duty in 2009 when he played in all three games of that series for New South Wales.
A move to Parramatta followed ahead of the 2010 season and Poore spent three years with the Eels before making the switch to Super League with Wakefield prior to the start of 2013.
“I finished last season at Wakefield and had all intentions of going back there,” he said. “But then a week before I was due back for pre-season I got a phone call from my manager asking if I’d be interested in joining Hull KR.
“One of my best mates in Michael Weyman is coming here and I’ve also played alongside the likes of Neville Costigan and Kris Keating. They were all factors in me coming here and it’s definitely a club that’s on the up. I know we made the eight last year and having bought really well during this off-season I think we can have a good year next year. I’m just stoked to be on board.”
Rovers’ Head Coach Craig Sandercock believes that Poore will bring plenty to the table for his side and said:
“Justin is a good, experienced player who has played the game at the highest level and I was impressed with the way he adapted to the Super League last season. The likes of him, Michael Weyman and Neville Costigan will bring a lot of professionalism both on and off the field and I’m looking forward to seeing them in a Hull KR shirt.”
Justin will be part of the Robins' journey in 2014 and you can be too by purchasing a Season Membership. Full details and prices of the membership packages can be found by clicking here.
