On The Pitch

Ellis: Fans can give us that extra push

Half back Jamie Ellis has described home advantage for Saturday’s crucial Qualifiers clash against Widnes as “massive” and says the Rovers supporters can help push the team to a massive victory.

The Robins could secure promotion to Super League this weekend should they beat the Vikings at KCOM Craven Park and Warrington also beat Leigh and Ellis says the fans have an important role to play.

Asked if the Red Army could be influential, Ellis told this week’s matchday programme: “Yeah, massively! Even against Featherstone last Sunday, it felt like a home game with the travelling support we took. It was absolutely awesome to have the fans there in numbers and to be fair to them they’ve done it all year.

“They’re by far the best fans in the league and we’ve easily got the fanbase of a top-five or top-six Super League club.

“The supporters are a massive part of the club and hopefully they’ll turn up again this week to make even more noise and give us that extra push to get the win.”

There’s still time to be involved on Saturday, with tickets on sale at the Rovers Retail store and online at
