Next heritage event focuses on 1946 Lions tour
The next event from the Hull Kingston Rovers Heritage Committee will take place on Wednesday, 29th March, focusing on the 1946 “Indomitables” tour of the British Lions.
This famous Lions tour, the first after the war, was Trevor Foster`s greatest rugby adventure and led to him telling many incredible stories of the trip of a lifetime. The “Indomitables” retained the Ashes and were unbeaten in test matches in Australia.
The 26 players captained by Gus Risman travelled around the world by aircraft carrier and were away from home for almost six months. It was a tough and frugal experience at times, however the team bonded like no other and enjoyed some hilarious moments and encountered some serious challenges both on and off the field of play.
Trevor`s son, Simon, will recount his dad`s great adventure and will show film footage and slides of the tour as well as bringing a selection of items from the tour archive.
The event takes place in the Legends Lounge at KCOM Craven Park from 7pm and is free to attend. There is no need to book, simply turn up on the night. The bar will also be open serving refreshments.
