Robins confirm Wheeldon departure
Hull Kingston Rovers can confirm that they have agreed to release Scott Wheeldon from his contract with immediate effect.
The 26-year-old's current deal with the Robins was due to expire at the end of the season and he's now expected to link up with the London Broncos having agreed a contract for the remainder of the 2012 campaign.
Wheeldon leaves Craven Park having made 77 appearances in the red and white following his move across the city from Hull FC prior to the start of the 2009 season.
Rovers' CEO, Mike Smith, paid tribute to the prop's contribution to the Robins by saying:
"Scott has been a loyal servant to the club over the last three and a half years and I'd like to thank him for the effort and commitment he has given to Hull Kingston Rovers during that time.
"His opportunities for us have been limited this season and the move to London should enable Scott to play first-team rugby on a more regular basis and put himself in the shop window for next year. On behalf of everyone at Hull Kingston Rovers, I'd like to wish Scott all the very best for the future."
