Craig Sandercock’s post match reaction
Craig Sandercock was disappointed with defeat in yesterday's derby clash and admits that his side fell away badly in the final 20 minutes of the game.
"I'm very disappointed for our supporters," he said. "Obviously this was a game that we wanted to do well in for them but unfortunately in those last 20 minutes we fell in a hole. Hull played some outstanding rugby league and full credit to them, but it was obviously very disappointing for us.
"I thought Hull controlled the game really well and unfortunately we had a couple of opportunities in the first half that we didn't take and whether or not that deflated us a little bit, I don't know. All I can say is that Hull were too good for us on the day, especially in those final 20 minutes."
The Robins lost the services of Rhys Lovegrove just before the break after a sickening clash of heads with team-mate Kris Welham. The Aussie was unable to return in the second half and Sandercock admitted that they missed him in the middle of the park.
"Both boys were in a bad way and we missed Rhys because he's the number one tackler in Super League and we missed his defence in the middle. The doctor gave Kris (Welham) the all clear and we needed him out there and to his credit he did the best he could."
On a positive note, skipper Ben Galea came off the bench to make his first league appearance of 2012 and Sandercock was delighted to have him back on the pitch.
"Benny got through the game okay and like the rest of the boys, he was out on his feet at the end but he'll be better for that run," he added. "Having his leadership out there is great for us and hopefully he'll be back to his best in a couple of weeks."
