Rovers launch exciting plans as Hull KR TV comes in-house

Hull Kingston Rovers can confirm some exciting changes to the popular Hull KR TV platform ahead of the 2018 season, with all production for the online television service moving in-house.

Launched in 2010 in conjunction with local digital design and production agency Eon Visual Media, has gone from strength to strength in recent years courtesy of innovative new ideas and quicker access to matchday content, with last season bringing record numbers of Hull KR TV subscribers.

In order to continue the development of the service and ensure it remains one of the best platforms in the Betfred Super League, the club will now produce all Hull KR TV content internally with new Multimedia Executive Ammie McGowan joining the club’s communications team last month to lead on the project.

It will see a greater focus on offering more exclusive behind-the-scenes and training content for Hull KR TV members, including light-hearted features with the squad and new, informative shows covering on and off-field departments at KCOM Craven Park, alongside the usual full match replays of every home and away game and extended highlights on the evening of each match, all filmed in HD and featuring commentary from Rob Chadwick.

Matt Holden, Hull KR’s interim head of communications, said: “We are rightly proud of our existing Hull KR TV platform and have received praise from rival clubs on numerous occasions regarding the quality of the service, but we feel the decision to bring it in-house is another step forward that will allow us to produce an even greater volume and variety of video content to the same excellent standard our supporters have been used to with Eon.

“It is our aim to take subscribers right to the heart of the club and we’ve brought a new member of staff on-board who will be solely focused on producing more video content for Hull KR TV and our other communication channels. That process has already started as part of the handover and subscribers will continue to see increased coverage of the first team squad over the coming weeks.

“We’re excited about the opportunities ahead of us as we look to build on the foundation we’ve currently got and we’d like to express our gratitude to Matt Dass and his team at Eon who have been excellent partners on Hull KR TV and have played a key role in making the platform such a success. We thank them for their fantastic support and innovation over the past seven years and we look forward to maintaining good relations in the future as we work together on other ideas and projects across the club.”

Hull KR TV will continue to be hosted by Eon Visual Media at the current site over the next few months whilst the club awaits the completion of a brand new website in the off season.

As well as boasting a modern new look, the new site will have much greater practicality for mobile users and will incorporate Hull KR TV, with a mix of video content for subscribers, freeview and pay-per-view. A new app is also currently in development and is expected to be rolled out in the New Year.

Further information on the changes to Hull KR TV and any actions required by subscribers to use the new site or continue paying via the online PayPal scheme will be confirmed in due course, with all Hull KR TV subscribers able to continue using the service as normal as part of their membership.
