GRIMSBY INSTITUTE BECOME A NEW SHIRT SPONSOR FOR 2010
Thursday 26th November 2009
It is the development of a partnership between the two that already includes a rugby league academy allowing students to pursue their dream of a career in rugby league whilst also studying for a qualification at a Further or Higher Education Level.More than 22,000 students are registered at the Institute in a wide spectrum of full and part-time courses, including vocational courses and apprenticeships for 16-24 year olds, and, with their ever growing provision for Higher Education, the University of Hull awarded the Institute, University Centre status earlier this year.
The Institute and Rovers share a passion for improving and developing young people's professional and personal skills, with Rovers promoting two young players in Frankie Mariano and Richard Beaumont to full-time professional deals in preparation for next season- both of whom having come through the Rovers Academy programme.
Rovers Chairman Neil Hudgell says the development of the partnership with Grimsby Institute can help the growth of the club, college and the sport.
"We are delighted to work with such a dynamic, forward thinking partner and hope it will be the start of a long and fruitful relationship," stated Neil.
"The rugby league academy is giving youngsters in Northern Lincolnshire an opportunity they haven't really had before to play the game and is helping the sport grow beyond the traditional heartlands."
"The Institute value the support we can provide with that and equally we value their input as one of our main shirt sponsors. It is exciting times at both the Institute and the club and we are delighted that we can work together for the continued prosperity of both organisations,"
Lee Stephens, the Grimsby Institute's Director of Sporting Academies, has been instrumental in the forming of the partnership of the Institute and the Super League Team, Lee said:
"Hull KR have undoubtedly established themselves as one of the elite clubs in the game. Alongside our Rugby League Academy, that we have recently formed with Hull KR, our sponsoring the new shirt demonstrates the positive move forward the Institute is making to promote the future of Rugby League across the UK."
The shirts that the Institute's logo will feature upon go on sale on Saturday 5th December at Princes Quay Shopping Centre, where Rovers will be staging the 2010 shirt launch and unveiling the new away shirt for the first time.
Starting at 11am, some of the Hull KR players will be taking to the catwalk with fashion students from the Institute to model the new range of replica kit and training wear before they go on sale that very morning.
