NETHERTON EXTENDS CONTRACT
Tuesday 4th August 2009
Joining the club on loan from Leeds Rhinos in 2004, the 27-year-old forward is now one of the longest serving players at the club along with fellow team mate Makali Aizue.
Recording his 100th appearance for the club in June this year as the Robins took on the Celtic Crusaders winning 18- 32, Netherton celebrated the milestone with a fantastic try.
A part of the Robins promotion-winning side back in 2006, he will now remain at Craven Park for a further two years and is delighted to have signed an extension to his current contract.
"In my first season with Rovers we were beaten in the play-offs by Featherstone and now we are fourth in Super League and pushing hard for third place, its hard to believe how far we have come in such a short space of time.”
A former West Hull junior Netherton is a local born player that knows how much it will mean to the loyal red and white army to go all the way to the Grand Final.
Netherton added: “I have been at the club a long time and as players we now believe we are on the verge of winning trophies."
Head Coach Justin Morgan added: “Jason is a player who goes out there every week and gets the job done for us; he is a solid player that plays an important role in our side and its great news that he has extended his contract.”
Rovers are next in action at Craven Park on Sunday 16th August 3pm kick-off, as they take on league leaders St. Helens in what promises to be an enthralling encounter.
