WELHAM SIGNS THREE YEAR EXTENSION

Story in brief:
Hull Kingston Rovers are delighted to confirm that Rovers centre Kris Welham has signed an extension to his contract keeping him at Craven Park until the end of 2012

The quick thinking 22-year-old has been ever present in the first team since the beginning of the season, keeping Kiwi International Jake Webster and more recently Great Britain International Chev Walker at arms length to maintain his spot in the side.

Making his way through the junior ranks at Rovers the talented Myton Warriors amateur player has featured in every round of the engage Super League competition, scoring 4 tries this year and is hopeful to make an impression on England Coach Tony Smith.

Smith has already shown interest in first team players Shaun Briscoe and Peter Fox and Welham is hopeful that he can now go on and impress the National Head Coach to push for a place in the squad. 

"It's my ambition to play for England one day and to do it while playing for Rovers would be brilliant" Welham said.

He went on to say: “I’m pleased to be committing to KR for the next three years, I thoroughly enjoy playing under the guidance of Justin and my game has improved no-end since making it into the first team on a regular basis.” 

Head Coach Justin Morgan added; “Kris is a great player to have within the team, he is a youngster with bags of enthusiasm and talent. He is developing his game all the time, and I’m sure he will continue to improve."
