Big Match Preview

Engage Super League Round 22

Hull FC vs. Hull KR

KC Stadium

Kick-off: 7.45pm

The Form Book

Hull KR go into the game on the back of their best run of the season so far, including last Friday's excellent victory over Leeds Rhinos. Ben Galea opened up proceedings with an early touchdown with first half tries from Ben Fisher and Peter Fox giving the Robins an 18-0 lead.

A Michael Dobson drop-goal and a clinching try from Ben Cockayne secured a 25-6 win and a first double over the champions for 25 years.

The nature of the performance has got Robins fans excited of avenging the Good Friday defeat at Craven Park, with recent impressive wins over Wakefield and Harlequins, as well as a draw at Huddersfield Giants, sees Justin Morgan's men head to the KC Stadium in their best run of the campaign.

Despite a disappointing performance at Wakefield last weekend where the black and whites were outmuscled 29-6, recent form has been solid for them. The defeat at Belle Vue was just the second in eight games.

Team News

Rovers winger Liam Colbon could make a return to the first team following a fourteen-game absence with jaw and knee injuries. His presence in the squad offsets the loss of Kris Welham who hasn't recovered from a shoulder injury sufficiently to be part of the 19-man squad.

Wigan loanee Josh Charnley is in line to make only a second Super League appearance in Welham's absence, whilst Morgan continues to be without the services of Jake Webster (hip), Michael Ratu (shoulder), Chaz I'Anson (knee) and Chev Walker (leg).

Liam Colbon

Liam Colbon is in contention for selection after more than three months out

Agar is boosted by the return of Sam Moa who has missed the last two games with a calf injury, while Richard Horne made a successful return from injury against Wakefield as a substitute but could feature more prominently in the absence of talismanic scrum-half Sean Long.

Mark Calderwood is another man pushing for a start after his own recovery from injury.

Previous Meetings

Since joining the Super League Rovers have had the better of the derby encounters, winning seven of the ten clashes. In the corresponding fixture in 2009, the boot of Michael Dobson proved the difference at the KC Stadium, as he converted all three tries from Jake Webster, Paul Cooke and Peter Fox on the way to an 18-14 win.

Dobson was a try scorer himself in the win at Craven Park last season, Rovers again clinching a narrow 24-18 win with Webster again on the scoresheet.

The last meeting between the two rivals came on Good Friday where Jordan Tansey clinched a rare 18-14 derby win for the Black and Whites.

Ticket Information

The club has sold out of its allocation of tickets for tonight's game, with around 3,600 red and whites set to descend on the KC Stadium.
